Snr Women's review 2017

This year saw the WSL 1st grade team predominantly made up of girls that had come up from the ranks of the youth teams, the squad was a young squad.
But never the less their age did not affect the quality and skill of football that was displayed on the pitch throughout season, the younger girls had the mentoring and support of the more senior girls in squad.
Our season saw us not taking part in trial games due to the inclement weather conditions, this saw our first few season proper games being less than ideal with the results going against us. On top of this the team suffered substantial injuries early in the season which also cost us significantly.
But this did not stop the girls pulling together and showing what the Saints girls are made of. The character and determination to prove that they were a force to be reckoned with did not disappoint the coaching, management staff and their supporters.
It made their opposition stand up and take notice that the Saints girls where to be taken seriously, with their speed, skill set and grunt on the pitch.
It is a credit to the girl’s dedication, determination and great football skills that has propelled them to be part of the top four clubs and heading into the final serious starting this weekend and in addition the girls side has finished 3rd in the Club Championship table.
Congratulations to a great bunch of girls and the coaching and management staff.
