A very strong performance by our first team saw us come away from Hills Brumbies with a valuable 2-1 win, a tough defensive last thirty minutes showing that there is plenty of fight and dogged determination in our squad, which augers well for the season.
A sweetly hit Nicholas Paras free kick from just outside the box gave us an early lead but a quick moving Brumbies were good measure for the equaliser, scored by the lively Jordan Parfait.
Jayden McLeod, after strong running, put us back in the lead in the 56th, and while Brumbies certainly put us under sustained pressure as they searched for an equaliser, we held on well, notwithstanding some lacklustre Brumbies finishing. It was an excellent result, with great commitment shown throughout.
Earlier in the evening, our 18s kicked off the night, taking the lead in the 3rd minute through Ante Abramovic, but ended up at the wrong end of a 1-4 reverse, while our 20s fought back late from two down to score through Antony Barca but ran out of time, going down 1-2.
This Saturday, we are back at Seymour Shaw Park, when we take on Northern Tigers.
