St George FC WSL Update

After 8 completed rounds, the competition tables are taking on a distinctive shape and the Mighty Saints Ladies are helping to shape them!
The 13’s are currently sitting in 3rd spot after 6 wins and 2 losses. 1 of these losses was a very narrow (and slightly controversial) loss to the competition leaders. The girls are starting to play as a team and the results are showing. A top 2 berth is not beyond these young ladies and this is the aim of Coach Craig.
The 15’s currently sit on top of the table. Having yet to taste defeat, they are going about their business in a very professional manner. Playing an attacking style that is a joy to watch, they have amassed a praiseworthy 37 goals and have conceded only 7. Coach Stuart and the girls are quietly going about their business and the team is improving every week.
The young Ladies of our 17’s have tasted defeat only once so far this season, to the competition leaders. It was a gut wrenching 0-1 score line. However Coach Bill would be highly pleased with their progress so far and with the team currently 2nd on the ladder, who knows what the future will bring!
After a somewhat shaky start where we drew the first game and lost the second, the Ladies of the reserve grade team have gone on an impressive run of 6 games undefeated. They now find themselves sitting in second spot on the ladder, only 3points behind the leaders and with a game in hand. There is a lot of heart in these girls and Coach Billy must be very proud of his charges.
Our First grade team has been hit by injury but they will not broken.  In a competition that is the most even in years, they are currently sitting 3rd on the table and are still well within reach of the leaders. Only 5 points off the top and with a game in hand, Coach Carlo and the players will be chasing hard for the premiership over the next 13 games and it is not beyond them to achieve it!
In Summary, it is fantastic to see all of our teams in the top 4 and all quietly going about their business.
The 13’s are 3rd, the 15’s are 1st, the 17’s are 2nd, reserve grade are 2nd and our first Grade sit 3rd.
We currently sit 2nd on the Club Championship.

All in all, it has been a highly creditable start to the season.
However there is still a lot of football to be played but with continuing hard work and determination, there is no limit to what our girls can achieve.
