U 13 ‘s  Drew 2 - 2

We moved the venue to Sydney United’s synthetic home ground so that the boys could get the weekend game in.

The under 12’s set the tone for the day with a draw.

It was hard going for the St George team as the pitch was very fast and we are used to a slower game on grass.

We moved the ball around but were somewhat shut down in attack.

Sydney United opened up the score sheet first.

Our first goal came from a great strike after the ball was headed back from a corner.

It was 1 all at half time and the score line rightly indicated a tight game.

United scored early in the second half and lead 2 – 1 until the last 3 minutes when we evened up the score with a penalty.

A great cross from the left side was almost put away in the closing minute but their Goalie saved the day and we finished with a draw.

On Saturday 2nd May the 15s Boys Saints side took on Syd United at the Sydney United Sports centre. With Kore-Lee  away and Steven  sitting out for a week, the squad needed to be on their game to take on a very strong side.
We started slowly trying to find our feet as we repelled Syd United on a few occassions. However, our boys improved and we managed to catch United on the break creating a number of opportunities in front of goal. Unfortunately we werent able to capitalise on our chances.
The Saints continued to maintain the pressure in the 2nd half with the United keeper making a sensational save from a stunning shot from Paolo. The United keeper continued to repel our attacks which meant the game stayed at 0-0. This draw keeps our 15s in 6th place in a very tight competition and a catchup game vs Syd Olympic to play next Monday. A positive result with the Saints 15s still marching on.
