PS4 NPL 1 Youth League Reports Round 3

Youth Vs Manly United

Defeated Manly United 2-0

A third straight victory for St George FC U12s to the tune of 2-0 to remain undefeated so far this season.
A very impressive Manly started the brighter of the teams without really threatening our goal.
St George started to control midway through the first half and had two great chances to go ahead when first Aiden and then Andrew, going one on one with the goal keeper without getting the desired result.
The second half started in the same fashion as the first half ended with St George the likely team to score. The first goal coming courtesy of a good finish by Jacob and the second coming soon after by Jake.
A much better performance this week compared to last week. Still plenty of improvement left overall.

Defeat Manly United 4-2

The mighty St George FC laid waste to a very well composed Manly United today winning by a convincing 4 goals to 2.
We traveled to Cromer park on an absolutely beautiful morning to do battle with Manly United on their home pitch.
The team was pumped after watching their under 12's club mates win 2 nil over Manly.
From the starting whistle we came out of the blocks and dominated all match pressing and shutting down a very composed Manly outfit.
Manly scored the first goal on a quick transition from defense with a long ball to one of their strikers.
There was a step up in intensity from our boy’s and we contained them in their half for most of the game.
We leveled the score at 1 all in the 23rd minute.
A bit of scrappy play near the box and Manly we lucky to score again and lead 2-1.
We had a free kick in the 30th minute which was perfectly executed and placed just under the crossbar for a score line of 2 all.
Going into half time our boys were dominant across the park.
The parents were pumped almost as much as the boys.
Our boy’s after their half time talk with coach Terry came out on fire.
We scored in the 43rd and 45th minutes taking the score to 4 - 2.
Our teams attack and defense was outstanding.
We pressed so well that Manly didn’t get one shot on goal in general play in the second half.
Congratulations to the team and coach for an outstanding performance and welcome to Thomas our new keeper.

Tyson  with a hat trick  - 3.
Jayden – 1

Defeated Manly 2-1

A game of 2 contrasting halves today. In the first half Manly were allowed to play a possession game that while not overly constructive attacking wise was frustrating for our boys all the same.
The second half started much like the first but after about 5 minutes we started to force the Manly backline into unforced errors and the momentum started to turn from Manly possession to St George's attack.
We were unlucky to not convert numerous chances into the winning goal.
With 5 minutes to go a tactical change in our structure allowed us more attacking options proving a winning move with a goal scored with 2 minutes remaining.

Drew 1 all

It was expected that our U15's would be in for a tough day as Manly had won their previous two matches, scoring 7 without conceding. After a slow start we caught the Manly defence napping with a magnificent ball from Aaron which split the central defenders and allowed Peter to run through on goal.
His initial shot was saved but Peter pounced on the rebound to slot the ball into the back of the net.
The second half saw Kudzai charge towards goal with a maze like run right from the kick off only to see his shot go wide. After a sustained period of pressure and several chances to go 2-0 up the Saints were punished and Manly equalized.
Both teams had their chances to wrap up the 3 points but in the end a draw meant both teams would share the points.
