Round 1
St George 5 defeated Apia 0

A comprehensive win to kick off the season but with some underlying areas for improvement needed
before next week.  We will take the points and the goals but aware that if we play like that against
better opposition the result will be very different.

U15's Round 1

St George 1 Lost to Apia 2

The U15s boys showed their intentions early mounting plenty of pressure on the Apia goal and creating a number of opportunities in the final 3rd. Unfortunately we weren't able to capitalize and went in to half time at 0-0.
The beginning of the 2nd half saw a very exciting game unfold with both teams creating several chances. Midway through the 2nd half Apia hit the lead with a fine finish. This definitely lifted our boys as we pushed for an equalizer. Our hard work finally paid off as Liam  sent a wonderful free kick in from the left which was met by Peter on the far post.
With only 5 minutes to go a controversial decision by the referee gave Apia a penalty which left our boys with 10 men. Nathan made a wonderful save, however the referee decided that Apia needed to retake the penalty for encroachment. The retaken penalty meant that Apia secured a 2-1 victory.
A courageous effort from our U15 warriors. Hopefully we can turn around this disappointment when we take on the Spartans next week.
