St George v Western NSW Mariners

Our girls and women’s teams met the visiting Western NSW Mariners on Sunday and there were some impressive results throughout the day. Seven points across all grades was a tremendous result!

The Under 12s got the day off to a fine start with an enterprising 1-1 draw against the undefeated Mariners with Abbie Milton netting for the Saints.

Better was to come in the U14s with our first win of the season, and our first points, dominating the opposition for a 3-2 victory. Tremendous goals to Deanna Xenakis with two and Marissa Nicopoulos helped earn us the victory.

Our U16s gave their best but the Mariners were simply too strong in a 7-0 win.

The women’s matches were close and two victories were not too far away. The Reserves just failed to equalise after being down 2-0, a goal by Laura Mackie bringing us back into it for 2-1 while we got our first win in first grade with an excellent 2-1 success. In our best performance of the season, goals to Prue Pearson and Alana Humphries, Alana’s second in a week, helped secure the vital win.
