Arrive Alive Women’s Super League Round 4 Review
posted by Artie on April 19, 2010
At St George Stadium the locals had hopes of rebounding from last week’s loss to Central Coast Lightning with a strong performance against APIA Leichhardt Tigers.
Unfortunately those hopes took a pounding very early through the brilliance of Natalie Spirovski who scored in only the fifth minute of play. Spirovski doubled the pain for St George just nine minutes later with her goal taking APIA out to a 2-0 lead.
The visitors maintained that lead into the break as St George tried hard to mount a response. However, in the 62nd minute Alicia Cavanagh put the result beyond any doubt when she scored to take the APIA side out to a 3-0 lead. Cavanagh, who is working back to fitness after an injury marred start to her season, will take confidence from her strike. APIA will be pleased to have the classy striker back in the line up on a consistent basis.
Full time saw APIA take the points with a convincing 3-0 scoreline.
St George FC 0
APIA Leichhardt Tigers 3 (N.Spirovski 5m/14m, A. Cavanagh 62m)
